An Easter Prayer

O Lord Jesus Christ,
you died for the sins of the whole world,
and on this day you rose from the dead.
By your Resurrection put the sin within us to death.
As you destroyed the power of death by your cross and passion,
share with us your blessed life;
through your merits, O blessed Savior,
you live and govern all things,
now and forever.
Amen.

Comfort and Strengthen Your People

In response to a prayer request.

comeuntomeHeavenly Father,
comfort and strengthen your people.
Send your Holy Spirit
and move us to believe
the promises in your Holy Word
that you do not leave
or forsake your people,
even when they suffer
from illnesses, weaknesses,
and oppression by the powers of darkness.
By his holy life,
death and resurrection,
your Son Jesus
has already overthrown
the powers of the devil.
Strengthen our faith in Jesus,
who alone can win the victories over sin,
Satan and temptation,
that we may share in his victory
and enjoy his glorious freedom;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Lead Us to Love You Sincerely

O Lord Jesus Christ,
by your almighty power
you opened the eyes of the blind,
and showed yourself to them.
Turn our eyes away from worthless things,
and lead us to love you sincerely;
through your mercy, O our God,
you are blessed,
and live and govern all things,
now and forever.
Amen.

Give Your Ministers Burning Zeal

O Lord God,
at the first coming of your Son Jesus Christ,
you sent John the Baptist in the spirit and power of Elijah
to prepare the way before him.
Grant to the ministers of your Word and sacraments
the same burning zeal to prepare the way for his coming again;
through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Defend Us against All Adversity

O God,
you see that we do not put our trust in anything we do.
By your power defend us against all adversity;
through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever.
Amen.

Keep Us Faithful to Your Truth

O Lord,
keep your household always faithful to your truth,
that we who rely only on the hope of your heavenly grace
may always be defended by your mighty power;
through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever.
Amen.
