We Come as Dear Children

O God,
you have shown us
by your beloved Son Jesus Christ
that you are the Father of us all.
Give us grace
to love and obey you as dear children,
to run to you in our needs and difficulties,
to reveal to you all that we lack,
to seek your support in all our temptations,
to confess to you all our sins,
and to thank you
for all your indescribable goodness;
through the same Jesus Christ our Lord.

Original in traditional English:

O God, who hast shown us by thy beloved Son Jesus Christ that thou art the Father of us all: Give us grace to love and obey thee as sons, to run to thee in our needs and difficulties, to open to thee all our wants, to seek thy support in all our temptations, to confess to thee all our sins, and to thank thee for all thine unspeakable goodness; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord.

“to open to thee all our wants,” could also mean “to reveal to you all we desire”
