The prayers presented in The New Mozarabic Collects are all taken from the 1881 book Mozarabic Collects, translated and edited by Charles Hale. The ‘Elizabethan’ or traditional liturgical English used at the time can be a great barrier for the modern reader, both in understanding the meaning of the prayers, and in seeing the beauty of the content. The goal in updating the language is both academic—to show the true content of the prayers for the value of understanding the history of the Mozarabic church—and practical, to make these prayers usable in today’s worship settings. All the prayers from Hale’s work are included along with some short orders of worship for morning and evening prayer.
The book is available as a paperback and in Kindle format through Amazon.com.
